crispy knækbrød

I just baked this delicious knækbrød, or crispbread if you will. I've been wanting to try the recipe the entire week. There's absolutely nothing - yeah, I said nothing - better than this stuff with a few slices of good cheese and a raspberry marmelade on top. Call me wierd, but it's completely normal where I come from. There, everyone's wierd...

ps. remember to slice them into squares (or triangles, or little reindeer if you want... no don't) before you bake them, which makes them easy to break apart nicely afterwards. And it's pretty important to run some of the seeds through a fine blender - this will make the breads break less easily. Otherwise, it can get pretty messy. Trust my living room floor.

the hipster apocalypse

so, a lot of people have a lot of bad things to say about the Distortion festival in Copenhagen. I love meeting up for ginger beers and looking at people. And the mood is unbeatably close to the Roskilde 'feeling'. Don't mind if I do.

lounging

lounging in bed during the rain today, catching up with my favorite shows, New Girl, Girls and Glee. Girls is really worth a look - incredible honest writing by Lena Dunham, and who wouldn't want to be friends with Jemima Kirke..

raspberry ice cubes

okay, so I was fouraging through my kitchen for smoothie supplies. Looking at the bag of frozen raspberries, I suddenly learn that raspberries must be boiled for at least one minute. I guess a clever, helmet-haired friend recently mentioned this, and stubborn as I am, I didn't really believe her. But when they actually write it on the bag... Anyway, it all ended up with the prettiest raspberry water, most likely full of good raspberry vitamins - and I thought 'ice cubes!' I'm brilliant.

leather jacket madness

really wanted to show you this incredible thoroughly metalbuttoned, widely shoulderpadded, polkadotlined, waistbelted leather jacket of my mom's. But I didn't get a proper picture, so for now I'll leave you with this wild, unfulfilled fantasy.

the crunchy granola

bring to a boil
1 cup honey or syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup oil
1 tablespoon cinnamon
maybe some vanilla

you also need
an oven heated to 160 degrees
1 cup coconut
1 cup sunflower seed
1/2 cup sesame or flax seed
1/2 cup pumpkin seed
4 cups of oats

add raisins, nuts and dried cranberries after baking

Pour honey mixture over coconut, seeds and oats and mix thoroughly.
Spread on 2 sheets of baking paper and bake about 30 minutes, stirring often. Do not allow to become too dark. Cool and then break into chunks and sprinkle on everything you own.

favorite places: Stefansgade

have a walk on my favorite street in Copenhagen, Stefansgade. See everything, like the perfect low angle of the sun in the afternoon, the street art and the children dipping their butts in the water on the playground. Buy everything, like the delicate jewelery at ...og grønne skove, the decoration trinkets at Dimseriet and vinyl records on the opposite corner. Taste everything, like the pepperoni pizza at Stefanos, the rich coffee at Riccos and the ginger beer at Stefanos Grønne Hjørne (where you are treated with the best personal service in town).

blog tribute: fashiontoast

it will be no secret that my top blog crush lies with Rumi Neely at fashiontoast and has done for years. These shots are pretty much a summary of the outfits that caught my attention and ended up on me from 2008 to now. We share a love of head decorations, indians, animal references and white flowy dresses. Rumi's dryly, sarcastically, self-ironically funny in a wierdly Scandinavian way, and Colin's photos of her are gorgeously lit and located. Her personal, minimalistic style inspires you to the point of going to Zara or h&m or eBay to look for something similar that will not appear until a year later and both Rumi and yourself have moved on to your next favorite mood expression possibilities. I say mood expression, because that's how I dress. And that's how Rumi dresses (knowing that practically makes me a stalker to the untrained eye, I guess). That plus whatever's at the top of the pile. And that's what makes style personal - when it communicates both to yourself and to the world, who you are today. Take a look and see if you can relate.

favorite places: hovedbiblioteket

the Copenhagen Main Library in Krystalgade is such a great - and architecturally cozy - place to hang around books, study, photograph toilet grafitti for your thesis and have a coffee.

barbeque season

may I present to you, the first grilled sausage of the year. Served with melon, a salad with apples and an olive oil/honey/balsamic vinagraitte and not least, the best potato salad, I ever tried - and the first, I ever made - so proud.
